About me

Belinda Brummer

  • HDipEd, SP

  • Dip, HRM

  • MSc, Management Consultancy

I still remember the day when I sat in a university lecture about organisational management in 2010. I was stunned (and not in a good way) by the professor’s views of management - its value and mechanisms, and how organisations should be structured to protect employees from managers.

My experience of managers led me to a different conclusion and a different world of possibility. My experience revealed that managers, line managers in particular, had the single greatest impact on how their team members experienced the workplace, and performed. For people to perform in an organisation to their fullest potential, they need an engaged, competent and confident leader to enable them.

My vision, brought to life through Boost Learning, is to create a space for people who manage and lead teams to focus on their management capability and confidence. By focusing on their strengths, to turn their doubts, insecurities, misplaced confidence, mistakes and competence gaps into opportunities. A space where they can explore these and make the tweaks and leaps that allow them to thrive.

About me

I have spent my career at the intersection of how organisations are supposed to work and how they actually do. With over two decades spanning senior HR leadership, management consultancy, and learning design, I have worked with Boards to shape people strategy and have sat with the person trying to navigate a difficult conversation before their next meeting. This dual perspective shapes everything I do.

I have led HR functions through growth, acquisition, and organisational change across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and the US, working with technology companies, NGOs, government-funded bodies, and scaling startups. Through my development and consultancy work, as well as The Manager’s Moment Podcast, I regularly explore what it genuinely takes to read situations well, build trust, and influence outcomes in organisations that rarely hand you the manual.

I bring genuine curiosity about what makes people tick in workplaces and have a low tolerance for advice that doesn't survive contact with reality.

My ethos

The quality of the relationship participants develop with Boost Learning through me is paramount.

I understand what is needed in order for people to have crucial and sensitive conversations that change things.

Therefore I pay particular attention to respect, kindness and the true-self.

  • Respect

    I see you, the person.

I work hard to recognise your personal experiences, professional contribution, what makes you different from others and the strength of your personhood.

  • Kindness

From little things, big things grow.

Small acts and having an attitude of kindness reach deeper into people’s experiences and potential than we can ever know. Kindness over apathy or cruelty, every time.

  • True-Self

Being in congruence with yourself is powerful.

I want you to live and work in congruence with yourself, where your experience and your ‘self’ are known to you, where your approaches are aligned with who you are and what you are capable of.
